Preview of the new Opera forum front page

June 22, 2010 · by Haavard

I just posted a thread in the forums with a screenshot and description of the new forum front page.

The current forums are really a remnant from a time when we primarily discussed the desktop version of Opera in the forums. Since the time the forums went online, Opera has diversified both in products and services, and the forums never really reflected this in a satisfactory way.

By adding main categories to the front page, we will now be able to scale better, and we can add more forums without worrying too much about clutter. We can even add more categories if needed, or merge or split current categories if we need to do that.

It might not seem like a big deal, but the forums are the primary contact point for a lot of Opera users. We hope to make it easier for both existing and new users to find the right forum to post in, because that's the best way to get the responses you want.

If you want more information, or just want to share your thoughts on the new design, visit the forum thread.

Sweet, I hope this will lend to more public awareness of many things Opera, including customization.

    Cheers!
