    - as with all things I'm blissfully testing Opera Mail too !

  • Charles SchlossWednesday, August 19, 2009 2:01:14 PM

No need to open another program to check my mail. Open Opera and while I wait for the new messages to come in I can still browse the web wit out waiting for another program to load. Plus the total file size of Opera is just barley bigger than a music file, yet there is so much packed onto a program.

    thumbs up

I've used it for years but had a little holiday from it while I changed computers and all sorts of other stuff was going on with my life.

Just recently (with Opera 10) started using it again - it's even better (somehow!).

My son uses it - he's disabled and just loves Opera to bits because it's easy for him to use. I got him an e-mail account and showed him how to use his e-mail and he's in 7th heaven with it!

Almost the perfect e-mail solution for me. I even installed Opera on my work computer just to be able to handle my work e-mail in the way I prefer.

With over 24000 e-mails and over 7000 feed items stored it's still rolling fast and efficient.

I have been using it for quite some time. Loving it. Quick, light and most of all I don't need gazylion clients running on the same time.
    I also use widgets

I use M2 only and no other mail client whether inside a suite or a standalone software, it just does the job, it fetches my e-mails so fast, it handles secure connections to IMAP servers and it has a nice spam filter that you can rely upon, also I can use it sometimes to download only e-mails' headers when I'm on a temporary location or not on my home computer, its simplicity is its strongest point and I love it.
  • zombieWednesday, August 19, 2009 3:20:24 PM

Simply genius. With the search and filter functions you can locate an e-mail among thousands in seconds.

For me, it's the best thing. You don't need to open another application. Notes, mail, bookmarks, widgets, everything is available at once.

The search works so much better than other more popular email clients. Filters are a very nice way to add extra organization without the extra work of digging around for emails.

There are some improvements I'd like to see but it is my preferred email client.
  • mfayazWednesday, August 19, 2009 4:42:43 PM

i used it before, i guess i should give it a try once again. will setup my emails with opera mail right away, i hope its worth it.
  • Igor SantosWednesday, August 19, 2009 4:50:02 PM

I use Opera's M2 for everyday corporate mail. It's fast, easy to use, and - of course - totally integrated with my browser. I can write an email while I'm surfing, and for me this is so useful, because I am a web developer. I am surfing all day long and writing mails all the time.

The only thing I have to complain about it is that my filters simply don't filter that well.. Sometimes they simply fill in my filters with random messages, that have nothing to do with its rules. I REALLY would like to know what I'm doing wrong, or know if it is a bug, and when it would be fixed.

    addicted to Opera Mail!
I was so ready for this:

  • KiretaWednesday, August 19, 2009 5:44:49 PM

Use it since it first saw the light (switched from The Bat). I loved it then and I still do
  • GCG1000Wednesday, August 19, 2009 7:27:33 PM

M2 improves with every release of Opera. It has become an excellent, full featured, email client. I use it whenever I'm using Opera. BTW, it works fine with GMail.
  • d4rkn1ghtWednesday, August 19, 2009 9:03:28 PM

I use it with FastMail and it works great! But I wish M2 had Identities like Thunderbird. That way I can use aliases/personalities without having to make multiple accounts for the same account.
  • Jacco BesselingWednesday, August 19, 2009 10:12:53 PM

It works really well with gmail (marking messages as read etc., but with Hotmail it works a little less well, and the whole mapping-system is not that well.

And it won´t send mails I send with my hotmailaccount. Everything else: I like it.

At first I was skeptical about the concept of an email client in a browser, but it felt spot on right after I started using it. It is so much more efficient than having to open two separate applications. No more missed emails due to not always running an email client, and no more wasted computer resources when one does.

My life is easier now with Opera Mail. It checks all my email accounts at once, saves me precious time and megabytes of mobile internet with its low bandwidth mode, and it's so natural to use. It practically didn't have a learning curve for me - it's so straightforward. Which is a rarity these days.

I really miss Opera Mail when using my mobile phone!

I didn't plan on loving Opera Mail just because I'm an Opera fan... It just happened, on its own merits!
  • jonrodThursday, August 20, 2009 2:36:41 AM

I love Opera mail. I like the fact that it's built into my browser so I don't have to open other software or use a web based email to get to it.

It's fast and very easy to use. And the contacts are easy to add.

I definitely prefer it to any other email client.

What about Opera Web Mail ( http://www.operamail.com/ )? Any chance, it could umm.. be upgraded to say.. have at least 1 GB of storage space?
  • JosephThursday, August 20, 2009 5:23:38 AM

Opera's built-in email client is one of those few must-have software tools for me. I've been using it for years, and I can't for the life of me imagine how I ever got along without it before. Integrated into the collapsable side panel, my contacts and inboxes are easy to access alongside my notes, bookmarks, and RSS feeds. With a single click I can view all emails sorted by criteria like my to-do labels, etc, even among all my many accounts. With a single click I can view a list of all emails in all my accounts that have attachments. With another click I can narrow it down to all email attachments that are documents, or images, useful for when I need to quickly find that status report or the funny picture of the dog. When traveling, I can set the client to low bandwidth mode with a single click in the menu. It was love at first site when I first tried Opera's email client. I even set my email signature to show it: "Opera has a built-in email client. Jgvii uses Opera. Jgvii has a built-in email client."

I've used Opera Mail (is M2 name depreciated ?) for two years, now... and it fits my needs (POP3/SMTP at home, NNTP at work). Well designed, cool integration in Opera Desktop Suite, ease of use.
I left my "good old" Foxmail without any regret
  • berend ytsmaThursday, August 20, 2009 12:59:19 PM

I use it with Google's mail imap.

Hello! Opera M2 is cool, I can check email while I'm browsing.
I also find out that the program can display email from a mailing list as thread too. And for think about: Why not more space? And free... Best,

I've never thought about whether or not I liked or disliked it. I just use it and it works!
  • yeelibertoThursday, August 20, 2009 7:37:57 PM

I love Opera M2, with the addtion to extract the contacts directly form the mail account, but I would like cvs or something support.
  • Thiago H. de Paula FigueiredoThursday, August 20, 2009 8:08:21 PM

I love M2. I let the Mail panel open all the time, using som 90px of Opera's window. I used to have a POP3 and a Gmail IMAP account at the same time, but now I only use the latter. I don't have any issues about M2 and Gmail.

M2's filters-instead-of-folders concept predates Gmail and could even have inspired it. It's a very agile e-mail client, having keyboard shortcuts for almost all actions. I use them all the time.

Some other features I love include treating mail and RSS in the same way and in the same panel. It's amazing to be able to forward an interesting RSS post to a friend just as I forward a regular message. Another amazing feature is the automatic filtering of mailing lists and type of attachments. I also use the threaded views and labels. I receive and keep literally thounsands of messages and RSS posts, so the M2 very fast indexing and search is very important to me.

I use Opera and M2 all the time and I'm deeply grateful to Opera ASA to providing me these wonderful pieces of software.

I'm using Opera mail as client for MS Exchange at work. I am almost completely satisfied with it, but a few issues are very annoying. And being a developer myself and realizing that fixing them should be soooooo easy is annying me a lot more!

I would like to see labels working with mails! labels are working fine with RSS but just disappears from mail message after 5-10 min
  • dapxinThursday, August 20, 2009 10:32:18 PM

The M2 client is email, simplified, and absolutely easy.

That automatic indexing is heavenly - and you miss it damn! if you ever tried keyword search in say outlook. Its priceless.

M2 + Imap + Gmail + Opera = Internet on Turbo. With peace!

  • Ryan OctavianusFriday, August 21, 2009 3:09:10 AM

    * it's nice and minimal

    @celticglen,

Your best best is to import Your Yahoo+Hotmail emails into a gmail account(maybe a fresh one) and setup a forwarder in Hotmail.

    See http://www.wikihow.com/Switch-from-Yahoo!-Mail-to-Gmail

or apply styles to it generally ?
  • Idan AdarFriday, August 21, 2009 8:27:52 PM

I use M2 exclusively ever since it was introduced in Opera.
I also use its BiDi functionality, something Opera 10 now supports better than ever.
