Here we go again: 2012 Readers' Choice Awards

February 22, 2012 · by Espen André Øverdahl

It's that time of the year: Browser poll voting. The annual 2012 About.com Readers’ Choice Awards is a platform to showcase the best products, features and services in dozens of categories.

Voting takes place from Feb. 22 through March 21 with winners announced March 30. There’s no direct prize - just the bragging rights that come with getting recognized by the readers of one of the most popular websites.

If you like Opera and what we're doing, then we'd appreciate if you threw us a vote.

Here are the categories we're nominated in:

Best Major Desktop Browser: Opera is nominated in this category! Firefox won this category last year. Can we do better this year?

Best Android Browser: Opera Mini is nominated as best Android browser.

Best iPad Browser: Opera Mini is nominated here as well.

Best iPhone/iPod touch Browser: Opera Mini is nominated as best iPhone browser. We won this category last year with your help! We got more than 88% of the votes!

Best Browser Theme: Yeeeees, Z1-Glass is nominated again this year! Z1-Glass won this category last year with a whooping 83% of the votes!

They are missing Opera Mobile in Android category. It's a stupid poll overall anyway.

I think Opera Mobile is the best Android browser NOT Opera Mini since it can do a lot more than Opera Mini. Also, on my phone, I keep the UC browser there since it can emulate a desktop and I use it when I want the websites to think I'm on a desktop and not a mobile browser.

  • Ebenezer AmoahThursday, February 23, 2012 9:57:14 AM

The Opera Mobile can emulate also as a Desktop agent. just go to settings > advanced > user agent and choose desktop.... done...
BTW this opera mobile has a first introduced the desktop emulation to hand-phone. OK.
