1) Did this change also introduce Google Suggest to our browser? In Opera, I don't recall those query suggestions appearing below the search box until today.
2) With Google Instant disabled, I am unable to use the mouse within the search box. (This does not apply to the search box on a page with results.) Give it a shot: Go to Google.com, go to settings and disable Instant, return to search page, type a few letters, try using the mouse to highlight them or position the cursor.

To turn Instant off without cookies modify your search.ini and copy it to your profile folder. My Google search now reads:
The &as_qdr=all turns off Instant - obvious, eh...
I found that with instant enabled (now the default) I could not change the search number over the default 10, I prefer 50 results per page.
oscarmovies16. June 2011, 06:32
can't use it becouse we are blocked

This doesn't affect me. I can still use the mouse within the search box after disabling instant search. Tested on Google.com and .co.uk.

Opera Mobile for Symbian is also partially working with Google instant! (you have to access the full page, not the mobile version, and the script only goes as far as trying to load the instant pagea, then say "Instant is not available now, press enter to search")

I came here to post the same thing. My single-key shortcuts don't work because the focus remains on the search text box(or it takes focus automatically with any keyboard input). I've disabled Google Instant in my Google settings because this "bug"(I view it as a bug) is annoying. I hope either Google or Opera fixes this(I'm not sure where the problem lives)!

The Chromium has that function for sites too.

Google Sites and Docs (but not spreadsheets') support seems to have improved too. Yay! Don't have to fire up Safari every hour any more.
D Y17. June 2011, 22:03
To disable this feature I added this as a new search engine:
Use as default: check if you like Speed Dial: check if you like
Hope this works for you too!

opera ! ok .
Charlie Gigabyte18. June 2011, 10:45
I like it, but it doesn't seem to work like it does in other browsers. As you type and the searches start happening, the search line's cursor suddenly moves to the end of the text box. For example, if you start typing "Bob's Pretty Good House of Clams" as a search term, but make it to "Bob'" the search term box suddenly turns to "Bob Marley" and the cursor moves to the end of the search term and you end up typing "Bob Marley's Pretty Good..." which is not what you want at all. Try it in another browser, and that doesn't happen. I can send videos if someone from Opera is interested and wants to trouble shoot this with Google.
[Edit: Realized I may be describing the same issue Wraith5 had up above]

This is weird. Even bing supports all browsers. Shame, because google is better search engine than bing.
