Great! Love the fact that themes can remove the title bar in Linux.

opera is the best of all ! ! ! !

You don't understand what I'm writing about: I really like Speed Dial, actually, and Opera's implementation is the best.

What I am asking is for Opera to be able to be closed with a mouse gesture (or CTRL+F4). For every other tab that a user opens in Opera, you can use the down-right mouse gesture (or CTRL+F4) to close that tab, including extra Speed Dial tabs. However, the VERY LAST tab cannot be closed with a mouse gesture (or CTRL+F4). This is inconsistent behavior.

Why have mouse gestures if they don't always work? Why do I have to move my mouse all the way to the top right of the screen to hit the X (or click the Opera Menu, then click Exit) when there already exists a perfectly acceptable way to close tabs in Opera: Down-right mouse guesture or CTRL+F4.

Opera *used* to work like this. It used to be possible to close the last tab with a mouse gesture. I don't understand why this is no longer the case and, worse, why Opera has taken the choice away from me. Opera used to be very much about user choice, but not in this instance? It doesn't seem like the right mentality to me.

    Mr. J,

I've never used mouse gestures (too dangerous for me), but I have used CTRL+F4 since I started using opera around 1997, and it has never closed the Opera WINDOW. In fact, THAT would be inconsistent behaviour with other MDI applications and Windows itself. The gesture you speak of is named, "Close current tab", and there is no gesture mentioned to close the window.

For what you want, there is and always was ALT+F4.

Now to take you literally, you should be able to close the final tab, by enabling this option in Opera:

Preferences -> Advanced -> Additional Tab Options -> Allow window with no tabs

If you enable that, you can have a tabless Opera window, and a simple double-click into the void will bring you your beloved Speed Dial.

    Cheers!

    ~Andrew

Bye sweet old skins page and unite :'( Bye Opera too! You've given me the best experience ever but, now not.

However, I'm still holding some featured and high rated skin. I'm looking forward to give it to original developer

This is a minor issue: When using one of the new themes, while having the Opera window maximized, I lose the ability to close the window by just moving the mouse pointer to the top-right corner of the screen and clicking there (default Windows behavior). I wish this could be fixed in the future, because this way I don't actually need to click inside the close button graphic and is quicker (and lazier). More importantly, many users are used to this behavior.

    Great feature nonetheless

I really don't understand why closing the last tab with a gesture *must* send a user to the Speed Dial page. It didn't used to do this. It's inconsistent with the rest of the behavior of the close gesture and, if you ask me, defeats the purpose of the gesture in the first place. "Sure, you can close any window you want, just so long as you don't close Opera! We can't have that!"

Frustrating and inconsistent. I'll stick to Chrome coupled with StrokeIt...

Congratulations on the new release Opera. I'll still cheer for you even if I won't still use you...

You can enable tabless opera in the settings. Then you can close all tabs and not get speeddial.

Hi Opera 12 in NOT WORKING at all.
It takes ages to load, sites that did take 2 seconds now takes 2 minutes if at all.

    What is going on.
How can I reinstall 11 please help.

    Do not install 12

I was a Opera fan till now...
    What did you do?
    please make it right again

Also the mail is not working like it was (cannot see any pictures like it was with previous versions)

  • GloubaMonday, June 18, 2012 8:18:22 AM

I feel exactly the same as Jannies : this release is USELESS

:bomb: *** do NOT install v12 *** :bomb:

Now, either I'll love 12.1 because it quickly fixes all main issues (freezes mainly), or I'll switch to something else (FF is a bit too resource-hungry for my platform, IE still hurts my eyes... Chrome ? Other ?? What about mail ?)... Years of Opera, ending this way ??

In the (hopefully short) meantime, I'll get the latest 11.xx version and figure out how to get my mail back.

Это уже не опера, это хром. Ушла на 11.64, и пока не вернется прежний облик любимому браузеру, обновляться не стану

  • Paweł PawlakMonday, June 18, 2012 11:16:04 AM

Please allow us to sync the list of currently installed extensions via Opera Link. It would be great...
BTW. Separating plug-ins from the browser process is my favourite improvement in Opera 12, the plug-ins (flash especially) was the №1 reason why Opera was crashing so often...
  • Jehey SanggoroMonday, June 18, 2012 1:45:58 PM

I was an Opera fan since 1999 but have been dislike the opera once opera 11 is release. The GUI is good but the speed and compatibility is out of range compared to Firefox, Chrome & Safari.

Today, I've just visit CNET.com to read on new software, they have give a good review which is make me impatience what have they claim as a fast as usual & good memmory management. In my heart, i said ok just try it for once. And its truth, Opera just back to their basic principle, faster than ever and their memory management make me excited (because mine still using old hardware). Thanks Opera!
  • NikolayVMonday, June 18, 2012 4:01:33 PM

I'm not sure that Skins, buttons and other visual improvement's really needed for users...
Where color profiles support? why i can't see pictures in same colors at home and at work (and in colors in that designed site)? In Firefox this feature work's many years...

I'm think that in this realize have three really improvement:
    1. OPERA:CPU
    2. internal speed and memory usage improvements (I'm not sure but I think that opera 12 closes faster than opera 11.xx with 10-20 opened tabs after 4-5 hours of work)
    3. x64 ( but it not work with Google+???, and I can't select x64 in Update dialog )

p.s. What for you change send letter button with airplane?

p.p.s. I' sorry if my English not well, I'm speaking Russian.

Perhaps I'm mistaken about CTRL+F4 since I don't use it as much as I use mouse gestures, so, my apologies.

You're both missing the point. I want to CLOSE OPERA with a mouse gesture. Not get to speed dial, not end up with an empty window, I want to EXIT OUT OF OPERA COMPLETELY. I don't understand why this behavior -- which used to exist -- is gone. There are times when one wants to actually close their entire web browser, you know.

Why can't Opera be closed, entirely, with a mouse gesture? If there's only one tab left, why doesn't "Close this tab" mouse gesture close that tab and exit Opera? I don't understand.

I have used and loved Opera for three years now, and even the alpha of 12 was nice, speedy, and very few crashes.

With Opera 12.5, I've had nothing but problems. It crashes continually, it won't even finish loading, on my wife's laptop. On mine, the speed vanished, is now dead slow.

With the last two builds, no images display on websites. Not a one! If I right click and then click on Reload Image, it or they will show up. Yes, show images is turned on in Configuration.

I had to pull the plug on Opera for my wife and go back to IE for the first time in years. I down graded my install to 12.01 in hopes of solving the image problem with no success. Now I'm ready to pull the plug Opera on my own machine.

I love Opera, but fix it please!

Not problem for me as computer geek, but you folks actually fail. Also it is obvious that you have never checked the design of your website. Where is this heading to? DO you want to follow Nokia?
