There is no Opera logo placed in the ads! Less tech-savvy people will never recognize thats its Opera.

Hmmm? Are TV Ads for Opera or any Browser for that matter, a concept utilized only in the Eastern hemisphere? I've always been completely baffled as to why Opera or any other Browsers didn't advertise on TV. I've never seen any TV Ads for any Browsers here in the USA.

Heyyy! Maybe an Ad in the NFL Football Super Bowl. http://files.myopera.com/Tamil/Smilies/Yes.gif -
They ARE super duper expensive though. But, if done correctly, it could be the ticket.
Or ... Dancing with the Stars ... brought to you by Opera Browser. http://files.myopera.com/Tamil/Smilies/Dance.gif -

I've seen a couple IE TV ads here in the US, but that's it.

It's a pity, that none of Polish mobile operators released a commercial with Opera. Polish telekom commercials went into a very twisted and funny style last years.

Hah! It's funny and weird that I barely made my comment above today about NEVER having seen a Browser TV Commercial and a while ago I saw the closest thing to that. I saw a Bing TV Commercial.

True, but they do actually promote use of Opera Mini, so Opera wins!

30 seconds of advertising time during the 2010 telecast is expected to cost US $2.6 Million dollars. (Wikipedia)

On a related note: How many did check out the old Indosat one again?

Browsers are kind of "special", and TV ads aren't very targeted. The only reason to advertise on TV would be to strengthen a brand, but then you would have to spend insane amounts of money. Opera doesn't have that kind of money.

It makes sense to do ads for things you actually buy, but browsers are free.

When there is not even an Opera logo, how will Average Joe know that its Opera? He just sees "a guy using a browser to watch webpages on his telephone".

But ... but ... but Opera could strut around, Moonwalk and kick sand in the faces of IE, Chrome and Firefox if it Roundhouse Kicked some market share away from them. :norris:

There's a compromise. Okay, so the Super Bowl's a bit expensive.
How about, since the word "Opera" is already there ... why not advertise in a Soap Opera?! Just Kidding. http://files.myopera.com/Tamil/Smilies/LOL2.gif -
