I'm using the Opera mobile now, so later I will test this Next release.
Meanwhile, don't forget the F8 for focusing the address bar. I use it a lot.
Also, I don't want to lose the amazing feature only Opera has to recover what I had typed in forms when I go forward then go back. (This were the feature most of the times prevented me switch to Chrome or another browser. And this is my the key argument I use to convince the people to use Opera.)

This. Is. Not. Opera.
I can't even count the features that you omitted from this...
No advanced options...
No customization possibilites...
No private tabs...
No ...

Trying not to be desperately disappointed (Alpha release, etc) but it's quite difficult.

to anyone, please, do not even bother with downloading it, only if you want to see by yourself how bad Opera has become

But reading this, makes me feel really sad:
"Opera Mail
On popular demand we have split the Opera Mail client from our desktop browser."
Who would be insane to ask that? Popular demand? M2 is one of the most important features from Opera 12. I would never keep 2 different applications that works great together running separately without a very good reason.
I may do more tests in this new version, but I will stay on my v12 until I see my productivity tools within Opera again. At least sync, bookmarks and M2.

1. Download manager was well put together, and it made sense (the firefox and chrome one is just dumb)
2. It had a menu bar (or at list a button to make it show up)
3. I could customize what search engine to be used
4. The UI was nice and clean
5. Speed dial nice and clean
6. etc.
Now it just looks and feels like Chrome (I don't know if it is as stable as Chrome though). So why may I ask should I stick with Opera?
If this is the new vision of Opera Software, I am out.
Disappointed.

Don't want to judge the other features before the browser is complete but to rule out M2 will make me dropping Opera!
(Opera user since Opera 4)

Do you know how to change value of "Chrome Integration Drag Area Maximized" in this version?
Thanks a lot!

I just wanted Opera interface & functions with WebKit engine...
rogerwilco75Tuesday, May 28, 2013 1:09:35 PM
THIS does not have ANYTHING to do any more with the uniqueness it used to have and provide.
I am aware of the fact that the only thing that'll never change is change itself, but isn't it obvious that having such drastic, not to say catastrophic, changes is hardly accepted - thinking of Windows 8 on PC's.
It is such a shame having to realize that the browser market won't be offering something similar any more.
I love your pre-webkit product but seeing in which direction this seems to be going 12.15 will either be the version I stick to or I will have to bite the bullet and turn to Iron as if I have to use a WebKit browser anyway I definitely do prefer OpenSource.
So please Opera staff: show us that you still rock and can change a stupid webkit-based browser into something that SUPERSEEDS the 12.15 and earlier versions.
(No cached navigation backwards/forward any more, no side panel, no notes, no e-mail, no rss, apparently only basic gestures, no status bar, less flexibility regarding customizations, no built-in ad-blocker (next to extensions), do all of the old hotkeys and their attached functions still work?, webkit= a frigging resource hog when running 40/60/80/100+ tabs, what about session management?,apparently no vertical tab rows, no IRC, search box gone, what about multiple custom searches?,just name a few.)

I suppose this is the beginning of the end - I'll have to get used to Firefox. Shame it's such a bloated piece of rubbish, but, well, I'm not going to be able to use this unless you port all of Opera's customisability functions and other really useful features that are simply lacking in Chromium and need bulky plugins to work in Firefox. I am not holding out much hope considering what the company has been doing recently.
Oh, fuck, how am I going to get my RSS feeds out?

Sure this new version have a lot of potential, but if you lose your identity marks i see no reason for keep using opera anymore, specially when Chrome give so many advantages in syncing web browsing through devices (specially android).
This are the features that i hope to see in opera.
-Extend the tabs vertically to show a small preview of the web page.
-Tab stacking.
-Opera Mail attached to the browser (and with Exchange server support if possible).
-Recover closed tabs.
I love Opera and i hope that the next Opera release have those advantages that make me stay with Opera all this years

I've been an Opera user since 2.10(shareware), have tried all versions(alpha/beta/next/finals) forward and I think they have closed business with version 12.15 for many of us.
After so many years of innovation and care for its users all is over.
All that makes Opera "The Browser" - not a browser, is now gone.
So many years and so many improvements that others copied and all that's left is a Chromium with the Opera logo in it?.
Why suddenly all the features Opera offers and others not are no more needed?.
More than 15 years rest in the bin.
I'd like to believe in miracles but, at this point, I don't think you are going to make us happy again.
You were going to improve Opera and you have succeeded. Now you have a GOOGLE Opera you can be proud of but which is going to lose all those users who made Opera what it was until version 12.
Many thanks for all the happy thrilling years but not for this kick in the b**t for all of us who supported you through.
For all those happy with the new Opera I don't know what to say...
I have tried nearly all browsers released (Explorer/Nescape and family/Safari/Mozilla > Firefox and related, Chrome, etc...) all this years and right now I can't see what Opera 15 offers to you that isn't already in Chrome, Iron or another Chromium based browser.
I don't see the point of developing Opera as a browser when all you have to do is make a skin for a Chromium browser to have the same.
Maybe the Opera Team could tell us why to use Opera 15 instead of the other Chromium options right now...
THANKS for reading and SORRY for those who disagree...

I DON'T SEE ANY "OPERA" IN HERE ANYMORE!!
Please, just release previous versions of Opera's source code online and announce it as a free and open-source project, FFS; so some people may start continuing its development. :/
You said you were just going to change the web rendering engine and that was OK; but now look at this! there's nothing left of Opera in there!! No Mail and RSS, No IRC, No Sidebar, No Notes, No Content Blocker, No Customizable UI, No Tab Stacking, No Advanced Features and Options, No Nothing...
This is totally BS guys; I wouldn't have used Opera as my main browser for over a decade if i wanted to use chrome or some shit like that... >:/
and this is the end of the greatest web browser ever made in the history of man-kind. :'/

Which "popular demand"? Have you had a look at the Desktop team blog comments section yet?
Stephen JamesTuesday, May 28, 2013 4:32:09 PM
Here are some praises / constructive criticism.
I love the Speed Dial folders.
I don't like that I can't group tabs!
What happened to private tabs?
Having the big Google search box is unnecessary for me, partly because I prefer Bing. It's quite obtrusive in design, almost inconsistent with the other ui.
The settings menu is very bare compared with before, perhaps not a good thing.
Can't pin tabs
Websites see browser as chrome, (perhaps intentional)
Right clicking on the menu bar etc does nothing.
Where are bookmarks?
If I want to add buttons etc to the toolbar, how?
I hope that 'Stash' isn't a replacement for bookmarks, but I love it!
I do however love the way stash works; changing the height of the stashes to include a preview of the webpage.
Opera Mail stands no chance as a separate product. None. IT SHOULD STAY IN THE BROWSER.
ALSO I CANNOT COMMENT ON THIS THREAD USING THE NEW BROWSER.
I know this is a work in progress and things may be missing that you are going to add/re-add but I just wanted to let you know! These things aren't mentioned in the post so I felt why not add them to the comment.

1. If I wanted to use Chrome I would have.
2. "On popular demand we have split the Opera Mail client from our desktop browser." - REALLY?! I'll bet my left testicle that mail, rss, notes and other stuff in the left sidebar IS the very reason people choose Opera in the first place. Anyone who didn't wanted to use these features, F4 and they're not there.
3. I don't care that you wrote native UI form the scratch. I don't care javascript is 0.000000000000001 seconds faster. I use Opera because of its features. THIS IS JUST ANOTHER CHROME SHELL!
4. I'm using Opera since 2004, and I kept using it even when Google Adwords wouldn't work with it. But THIS IS A DEALBRAKER! You'll lose 80% of your users because you have nothing to offer that Chrome doesn't. Then why not just use Chrome?
5. You should have just use the webkit and keep the Opera. That would fix rendering issues with some sites and we would still have the Opera. THIS IS NOTHING! And I'm fully aware this is just a preview.
Please don't kill it. You have an outstanding product. Anybody can make a Chrome shell, but only you can make the Opera. If go down this path, you'll have nothing.

I would actually prefer if Opera returned to being paid software if you continued the development of the Presto-based browser we came to love so much. I'll stick with Opera 12.15 until there is something worth upgrading to, and I doubt Chropera will ever be.
Hitherto opera:about used to state "In memory of Geir Ivarsøy". Maybe you should change it to "In your face, Geir Ivarsøy"?

Speed dial/stash/discover interface still very buggy, doesn't update well.
No need for a big search bar on speed dial (but you're receiving money from Google for that I suppose...).
Would be good to have more customization on discover by letting people choose whaever website they want, like feedly, pulse etc.
Hopefully extensions will work well this time, not like previous Opera versions!
Folders on speed dial is a very good idea, but some of my bookmark folders have more than 15 pages, will that fit neatly?
Shortcut CTRL+ENTER missing.
In the private mode (hohoho) can color Opera button in a different color.
That's all for now I guess. Good luck! And don't forget, we are Opera, not Chrome.
