I will try installing 11.11 later at home - if this would happen again, then I will disable the automatic updates.
I have learned to create backup files after I lost all my passwords on Opera because of updating it from 11.00 to 11.10. I was really angry... But fortunately, I moved from WinXP to Win7 a few weeks earlier and I still had the old Opera configuration files (from WinXP), and this really saved my life. I restored two files (probably "opcacrt6.dat" and "opcert6.dat" - I don't remember now) and I get all my passwords back.

Automatically upgraded by the Official repository of Debian :penguin: and the Official port on FreeBSD.

This is why I love GNU/Linux and Unix-like OS

    WTF?
Update installation. -> Opera automatically opened. -> Lost all settings, Opera is just how it comes from factory. -> Closed it. -> Opened from icon -> Everything is there, alright... ¬¬ ?

I also jumped on the 11.50 branch, the funny thing being that albeit still an alpha, it's already my primary instance of Opera. Even without mentioning it in the changelog, this site (Choose Opera) is now correctly rendered (as opposed to 11.10, which had the background of the page flickering while scrolling). The new Speed Dial, although far from perfect, is quite good and usable. It looks better in some respects.

This upgrade is a disaster. Since it automatically installed itself this afternoon I have been unable to log in to a number of websites: Google Adsense and MyOpera being just two. As soon as I put in the username and password they just hang there for ever. I can't even get the front page of some sites.

At first I thought it was an internet issue, but everything works normally in Firefox.

Because Opera upgrades itself now, I had problems finding an old version to revert to. However eventually I found version 11, have installed that over, and I still have the sames issues.

If you are going to design Opera so it upgrades itself automatically you need to make sure there are no bugs like this. I hope this is fixed soon because I'm going to have to use Firefox until it is. In its current state Opera is now unusable for me.

I realy hate the 11.11. It lost all my passwords, and now i am searching for 11.10 install, maybe i will get my passwords back.
  • addSaturday, May 21, 2011 7:43:37 AM

11.11 is for computer. You cannot use it on nokia e73
  • Japhet ZuluSaturday, May 21, 2011 7:46:45 AM

    Thanx rauno.
  • addSaturday, May 21, 2011 7:52:33 AM

Downloaded 11.10 and still didn´t get my passwords back. This really sucks. Stupid update. :bomb:
  • BrendaSaturday, May 21, 2011 1:57:31 PM

I upgraded and didn't lose anything but Opera went running away and was at 350,000K in no time flat... then it froze. Why can't opera stop hogging? It's just been getting worse and worse since Opera 9. I went back to Opera 11.10.
  • Charles SchlossSaturday, May 21, 2011 3:44:56 PM

best to be on 11.11. Check for updates to your plug ins, keep the OS updated and have the anti-malware updated also

  • Paweł PawlakMonday, May 23, 2011 5:43:53 PM

    @rgsuk, @rauno - Y U NO CREATE BACKUPS? :p:
With all this bugs Opera brings with every new update, you have to keep the backup of your settings, if you don't want to lose them.

If anyone wants to get back to a previous version of Opera, just download it here: http://www.opera.com/browser/download/?custom=yes
I'm still on 11.10 (and also on 11.50 sometimes). 11.11 is only a bad joke.

i did up grade 1111 IS ME !!!!!
  • Kathy BoulierMonday, May 23, 2011 11:04:08 PM

yes, I did upgrade to 11.11 and even made a couple wallpapers!!! I lost nothing. the one thing I did find concerning is with the stumbleupon plugin, many times have to reload as it cannot complete connection; slow I think. I have DSL and a new Compaq Presario CQ 62 with Win 7 and 64-bit, so I doubt it's me. maybe check it out ok? everything else ok. Only crashed a couple times and I think I clicked on something too soon. Sent report.
  • Kathy BoulierTuesday, May 24, 2011 12:56:40 AM

thank you; WOT won't let me, however. when you write on this corkboard, bold your letters - us old people have vision that SUCKS!!! thanx for your reply
  • GianninoTuesday, May 24, 2011 5:10:30 AM

Opera is the browser I prefer. But I think it uses too much memory. At this moment there are only three open tabs and the memory consumption, that I read in the task-manager, is over 220 mb. The same three tabs opened on IE8 uses "only" 130 mb. Why it happens?
  • Paweł PawlakWednesday, May 25, 2011 9:40:30 PM

Now I switched to 11.11 on my Windows 7 PC (at home). No problems as far as I know. On my Windows XP PC (at work) I'm still using 10.10, installing 11.11 means data loss.
  • Kathy BoulierTuesday, June 7, 2011 2:01:43 AM

only thing I encounter is a lot of address not found and have to refresh, especially when I'm using StumbleUpon. the address is correct, it's just it can't seem to find it fast enough before time out or whatever. 11.11.
  • Kathy BoulierTuesday, June 7, 2011 2:04:56 AM

I had trouble upgrading and I'm ashamed to say that right now I'm only available on mini on an E51. It is heavy guys, even mobile. It also costs a lot to run opera as a desktop browser in South Afrca if you are providing your own internet access. I run opera proudly though during the school term. Is ther a lighter version available?
