Small update in 11.60

November 8, 2011 · by xie fen

Hello everyone, my name is Xie Fen, and I am the new member in Opera Desktop team. As a newbie, it is kind of exciting to post a new blog on behalf of the Desktop team. This is minor update with a few crash fixes, plus an update to Core that will allow us to do cool things in a future Dragonfly.

We are still working on mail crash fixes, and will try to get these out to you very soon. In the meantime, let us know what you think of this build. We are particularly interested in web browsing stability. Thanks! smile

Anyways, relative to this remarks (http://my.opera.com/desktopteam/blog/show.dml/37352552#comment74275532) i found a work around

Go to Users > Library > Applications Support > Opera > Mail there you'll find a text file where you can simply edit this default signature

    Buggyness in my RSS/mail: http://i.imgur.com/EmLgl.png
I also had a crash after deleting the RSS feed and trying to close the tab. (Sorry, I didn't send a crash report)
  • z@h3kZAHEKTuesday, November 8, 2011 4:13:08 PM

I am not sure if you noticed that when you wanted to signature to your e-mail account, Opera crashes once you push button.
  • greenchTuesday, November 8, 2011 4:18:04 PM

    @zahek
It is an known issue. Read previous blog post... wink
  • slalauretteTuesday, November 8, 2011 4:18:56 PM

Is the link broken? I press the button to install the snapshot and get an error.
  • MarcoGremoTuesday, November 8, 2011 4:33:41 PM

Always crash when changing signature in mail panel options. Change also when trying to download a new dictionary for spell check.
  • Paulo AguiarpauloaguiaTuesday, November 8, 2011 4:40:08 PM

Seems much more stable yes, but I still got a crash when using brainking.com website (as opposed to much more frequent crashes in previous builds). Crash report sent, hope it is useful...

There are some crazy memory leaks with Flash 11/11.2 in a few latest builds. W7x64
May it be with FB games or YTube.

    Hello Xie Fen

I didn't encounter any of those crashes with the previous build.
The mail improvements are very nice and I'm glad to see the client get a little attention.
Memory consumption seems to have improved as well.

2 minor things though, bookmark star is (still) not aligned with the other icons in the address field and the widget icon is a little too thick

    Great build!! Thank you

I have a bug to report regarding the usage of mailto:. When inputting mailto:[email protected] into this build of Opera when there's only one tab open, it crashes. I've already sent some crash reports via its built-in function.

EDIT: It only crashes when the one tab is a "Blank page".

  • Witold BarylukmovaxTuesday, November 8, 2011 6:36:12 PM

    Good work.

Is there any hope that address drop down menu with suggestions will be reverted to old version? Or at least search suggestion in drop down menu could be separately enabled/disabled for address bar, and search bar? I really think only good new think in address bar is a favorite star, however everything other is done just wrong and ugly.

Really ? It is gone for me since the previous snapshot.
  • VincentonmeownTuesday, November 8, 2011 7:18:35 PM

On Facebook with a ssl connexion("secure"), if I watch a video posted from Vimeo I got multiple alert popups which notify :

"Information from this secure page will be submitted to page that is not secure on player.vimeo.com
Submitting sensitive information is strongly discouraged"
    with cancel and submit button.

    The issues here are :
    - why many alert popups?
    - Only the last one can be clicked, the others are frozen and then the page/tab is no longer usable . I must closed the tab and open a new one.

I installed 11.6 and although a small improvement there is still a "Not Responding" issue. I notice that it only happens when two or more tabs are opened and then the first tab is changed to a new url.

Also notice that the first tab is not overwritten by a bookmark url and so two tabs immediately are open.

Good luck Opera, we need your browser.
