    Yeah, some pretty cool setups.

    Here's mine:

Notebook skin (for maximized height) and lots of stuff removed. Popular sites in the speed dial and dozens of search possibility shortcuts. Great browser!

I kind of missed it when I tried removing it, but Popup Statusbar solved that problem. I wanted it to see where links led, though, not for any of the buttons that are placed there.

I've always loved how easy it is to customize Opera
The address goes on the bottom its easier to spot spelling mistakes nearer the keyboard.
My favorite Extension is Slim Scroll bar only shows when needed.

    This is my speed dial
I used own pictures as logos but new speed dial which is focused automaticlly on logos sometimes crashed my creation - that's the reason why I hate the new one

For all that want to hide all the extensions.
Take a look at this very useful site:
    http://76.11.58.186/
Seek for the extension button, it works great.

Btw my Opera (Speeddial). All standard:

This was the way it looked before 11.10, now it looks like this:

I'll wait for the end of all the SpeedDial improvements to change it back to the old style.

  • DasRakel5. May 2011, 21:18

I try to get it to be as useful as possible, and that don't mean 'more is more', but still, screen estate is not that big of a deal when your screen is big enough.
I could use a better theme though.

  • The Hobbler6. May 2011, 03:40

I was using Opera at Default Tabs on Top, but have found that putting the Tabs on the bottom actually is easier to find with a mouse and choose a page. Gives it a more organized look.

Another take at it. My configuration for the last 3 months.

    * The addressbar is at the bottom because when reading I do not want anything but the access to the text.

    * The tabs are accessible through the window list on the right which is scrollable.

    * I use some utf-8 characters for bookmarklets.

    * Using TabsVault extension (a must for tab hungry like me), an invisible one to revela cite in blockquotes, and one to show id in HTML code.

This is my browser: http://files.myopera.com/lgasparetto/files/opera-my-browser.PNG Using Speed Dial search for short URLs, Menu Bar, Bookmarks Bar for useful bookmarklets, Tab Stacking, several extesnions, RSS reader( http://files.myopera.com/lgasparetto/files/opera-rss-reader.PNG ), and some features I use sometime, like Opera Link, Opera Turbo, etc. I use very keyboard shortcuts, it's make the interface more simple.

Here is one of my Linux machines, with Opera Next installed, customised to make good use of screen real estate:

    http://files.myopera.com/ruario/Pictures/examples/opera-next_xfce_1280x1024.png

Some things I have done include:

    • Removed the title bar (for space)
    • Removed the tab bar (for space)
    • Removed the address bar (for space)
    • Moved the status bar to the top and embedded an address field (because the status bar is thinner than the address bar  )
    • Added an Opera Menu to the status bar (since there is no address bar)
    • Added a trash button to the status bar (since there is no address bar)
    • Added a New tab button to the status bar (handy to have should I decide I want a new tab just as I am about to edit an address)
    • Removed the Panel button (since I can use a shortcut to open it)
    • Removed the Unite button (since I can use the Opera Menu or Panel)
    • Removed the Opera Link (sync) button (since I can use the Opera Menu)
    • Removed the status field from the status bar (it would compress the size of the address field otherwise)
    • Installed the the Popup Statusbar extension (to provide status information since the regular status field is removed)
I deal with the lack of home, forward, backward, reload buttons with mouse gestures and keyboard shortcuts. I use the address field for searches. I access and get an overview of tabs via Ctrl+Tab and the Windows panel.

Your Set-up is amazing and a little know-how about Opera's cool features can be a killer deal for people having smaller screens. I think Opera should provide some more customization presets like these. It may be a help to many! and will definitely save the time of doing it on our own! Opera Instant Customizations :wizard:
