I took your advice and the clean install with my extensions restored does seem to be running smoothly, no crashes.

Edit: spoke too soon. I started getting crashes again. The culprit seems to have been the image previewer/link redirector extensions. Anyone who has them installed and is getting crashes might want to try disabling them.

Congrats. I am happy with some final fixes you made. Great.

Confirmed, I use build 1646 because this problem is not present.

    ... [snipped]...

Both Ubuntu 64. Both are clear regressions from earlier version of Opera.

Can confirm (tested with clean profile, too).

Linux version (32 bit) running on Debian Squeeze.

Other than that, I'm quite pleased. Seems faster.

    Good Job!

What's the fuzz? Just delete cookies for gmail and relogin. Works like a charm... I hate people always bitching about something they get for free...

fuzz??? I need to clear these cookies every day! So this is normal?!

And yes it's free, but I'm using gmail with adds section on the right, google makes money from these adds and pays Opera for being default search engine. I hope, that some part of that money could be used for making Opera more compatible with Google services... Of course, I could use different browser, but I WANT to use Opera...

Sometimes, some pages aren't auto-adjusted when the browser is set in half-screen, and Fit-to-Width doesn't seem to help.

    Anyone experiencing this?

I have solved same problem by disabling extension "ContentBlock Helper". (and then after enabling this extension text selection continues to work)

Thanks for the good job on this update. For the next upgrade, it will be nice to improve windows 8 compatibility. I experience some problems with my wacom pen tablet shortcuts for scrolling the page (scrolling with the pen is just crasy, works fine with firefox and chrome).

Some huge facebook page are also hard to view (try https://www.facebook.com/jmayrault?ref=ts&fref=ts ... hard on all web browsers but specially with opera and ie 10).

  • blaximaTuesday, November 6, 2012 11:31:13 PM

Every time I start Opera with speed dial, I get a blank white page that I can't right click on. Pressing the new tab button brings up my speed dial the way it is meant to be. I tried removing my speed dial.ini and that did nothing. I'm not going to do another fresh install and lose things again since I had to do that with 12.02 in the first place.

EDIT. reading through the blog I saw a post that mentioned Ghostery as the culprit. Updating it has corrected the problem

    Thanks for the hard work.

I had this for a long time. This is what I did to fix it: * Clean install (there is a 'how to' somewhere in the knowledge base. You have to remove Opera and delete 3 directories manually) * Disable SPDY2 and SPDY3. There is some indications on this comments. * Mostly forget about extensions. Many extensions cause this. Web of Trust, NoAds and AdBlock caused this crashes with me. Opera AdBlock (not the same as AdBlock) seems to not have this problem. But I am still testing this last one. * Increase the user js storage quota - if you have some extension working Doing this four steps the crashes stopped (or at least went back to the 12.0x levels).

    I fully agree with you!!!
And a clean install for me also means cleaning the Windows registry.
As posted earlier here, Outlook (Hotmail) only worked correctly when I have disabled the "CSS Filter element" in 'Opera Adblock'. Addons can have an unpredictable impact on Opera, even more in new versions.

I am using version 12.02 right now. I am somewhat apprehensive about going to 12.10, I will definitely wait until I see enough positive feedback to it before I do it.

    DSK-376093 still present!!!!!!!

    1. Open Google+ Photos
    2. Go upload, choose album (or create one)
    3. Choose a picture on PC less than 50 kb (not issue in files > 50kb)
    4. Then Opera never upload that picture... just hangs and must be closed shutting down opera.exe service.

oh my opera, i just had you updated but what could i have done wrong here?

    [img]http://img33.imageshack.us/img33/2888/snap2w.png

win7 64bit, opened tabs are from yahoo (about 10) and a gmail, extensions are wot, tab vault, last pass and autopager. this has the same setup with my previous opera 12.02 but it never got into the point that it would occupy almost all available memory i have on my rig. wondering if somethings wrong with the new build?

On Win 7 x64, with current AMD catalyst drivers and Radeon card, Opera 12.10 is crashing badly during session load, but cannot confirm the description of unresponsiveness here.

just crashes everytime, makes opera totally useless
Hope the developement team stops ignoring this, i've seen a lot of such posts on earlyer developement releases and its still not "repaired"

  • Charles SchlossWednesday, November 7, 2012 2:26:21 AM

I have sent more than 37+ crash reports in

    OS X 10.7.5

Seems to be a graphics bug, I see Opera 12.10 using a lot of graphics memory and in the console I see in the console "com.operasoftware.Opera: opera [crash logging]: Gpu info empty!" & "Opera: CGImageCreate: invalid image size: 0 x 72."

What are other people seeing in the console?

    HOLY .....

Ahem, and sorry. But look at the screenshot and see what you think.

12.10 + memguard just managed to eat through a 32GB i7 in seconds. Memory leak y'think?

    Screenshots -> http://i.imgur.com/IynXm.png

Following the ongoing "well known" startup crash (above), I tried to get data for Opera's dev's as they had previously asked, by using 12.10 v1652 with memguard.ini. Result?

12.10 final almost instantly exhibited a huge runaway memory leak, grabbed the entire of 25 GB of RAM that was free on this system, kicked Windows 7 out of Aero, and crashed itself.

Screenshot above. Stack dump, process info, poolmon and other data sent to Opera bug wizard (DSK-376941).

I like extensions the toolbar and panel extensions- just not speed-dial extensions I don't see their worth if there were some design example of the proof of concept to check out - I guess they are to be like myyahoo front page or something as an aggregate reader (but Opera has other ways it does this already very well) - which would be a cool idea if you guys were still supporting Opera Unite. I use speed-dial as a bookmarks I guess that what I always thought it was for, but I also want to just to be able to open a plain blank page just to look at the desktop - so the theme customizer should be built in.
I did like the widgets - but they should have been in someway easier to drag-n-drop or copy to the directory and install or import a collection.

After importing feeds - several blank feeds were allocated - but I find no way to remove the empty feed placeholder bars from the mail panel - and didn't see extra lines in the feeds opml file- except the menu option to hide them.

Thanks for keeping Opera alive, but you should let it thrive.

Big problems with the menu bar (it's white and when I click it it has some sort of wierd background from the speed dial) and the graphic icon in the search bar is all messed up. I uninstalled opera and reinstalled it because I thought I might have gotten a bad download. Also Control+D doesn't seem to work all the time.

    I'm using Windows 7 x64 bit with Opera 12.10 x64 bit build 1652 installed.

How do I roll back to 12.02?

Also many times, Opera starts behaving really sluggish, scrolling isn't smooth, you can feel it takes some time for it to respond to clicks etc. All this happens without any higher CPU usage and usually after a minute it's fast again. Disabled all plugins, but still have same problem.

Go to opera/settings/preferences/webpages, set images to "no images" klick "ok" after it again go to images setting and this time set it to "show images". I had similar problem, in opera next, same build, images wasn't loaded, all websites was without images, tabs without favicons, i did this and worked, now i have images everywhere they should be.

Looks more like graphics driver issue, reinstall/update gpu driver to latest available version, same do to flash player, should fix your problem.

Yes, I am also a developer and I also dislike such comments. But only when they're not relevant to the case. This time - excuse me, but what the heck? I must disable both SPDYs and then clean cookies/restart browser 4/5 times a day? Working day, take a note! No problems if this would be beta. But nope, it's RTM. No problems if all this stuff was not ever reported. Nope, it was. No problems if Opera Software has no testers. Nope, it has. Internal and external. Amateurs and professionals I guess. Understand me correctly please. I love Opera. 10/11 versions were best web application I've ever seen. Tools and features inside made the life sooooo easier..! Yes, "made", in past simple tense
