Then you will understand the importance of adhering to specs.

Your assumption is that Opera is at fault, but we don't know that to be true. It's quite likely that Google are not adhering to the SPDY specs and doing naughty things but there are workarounds in Chrome to cater for.

Now Opera 12.10 is mainstream, Google will likely sort the problems out their end.

Your client issued a request that was too large. That’s all we know.

Seems that this has already been reported in the beta version. Too bad that this could be in a final version. I'm disappointed :-/

I've seen this a few times, usually opening Site Preferences (context menu) and deleting ALL googles cookies, then reloading gmail fixed the issue.

    Hello,

Regarding the Gmail/SPDY/413 issues, I can confirm them on Windows 8 (x64).
Also, the browser now seems to cause some kind of periodic "input lag". Simply moving the mouse over the browser window shows the movement is not smooth and is jittery (like when the CPU is at 100% use, and can't keep up with the mouse. Except that's not the case here). This is on a mostly default Opera instalation, with only Ghostery installed.
This slowness also existed in the previous version (12.01?), but only under Win8 (no such thing under Win7 or Linux).

Under Linux (Fedora 17 x64), everything is fine, this is the best Opera release ever

What should I say, seeing this, after resizing Opera?
    http://kepfeltoltes.hu/121107/Opera_www.kepfeltoltes.hu_.jpg

After manually refreshed the page, it is better, Facebook heather at least appeared:
    http://kepfeltoltes.hu/121107/Opera2_www.kepfeltoltes.hu_.jpg

Facebook scrolling still the worst behind all other browsers, the biggest new feature SPDY makes the whole browsing impossible, especially for GMail. Youtube crashes with just "error occured, please try again later" and has to be opened a new tab, refreshing does never help. Pictures frequently do no appear, randomly there are some placeholders between pictures.

I am disappointed to make this a "stable" release. It couold be nice, but...

randomly crashes when link is clicked... Opera opens new tab then crash. I've send you few reports. My system is Linux Ubuntu 10.04.

For now i've removed 12.10 and headed back to 12.02 - it's more stable :p:

    cheers
  • netmainWednesday, November 7, 2012 10:34:12 AM

congrats guys for the release, great work.

I couldn't help it but to notice the SPDY not working with turbo for me at least

It worked when it was introduced, but stopped working just when you started making upgrade to the opera mini datacenters. Is it just a coincidence ?

waiting for the new build already , c'mon

And the keyboard shortcut to open Dragonfly on Mac seems to have gone! CMD+OPT+I now simply flashes the Tools menu, but doesn't bring up Dragonfly.

These sound like the problems I was having with SPDY and a proxy server. Perhaps you could also try disabling everything with "SPDY" in it in opera:config...?! It fixed all my problems!

@ Graham, thx, can you also confirm that other annoying bug:

    - can't attach more then 1 file to email by dragging files to attachment field in M2

Just by setting up a bogus mail account and compose mail -> drag files to attachment field. Delete mail folder afterwards. Sometimes it feels like I'm a stupid sucker complaining about these basic features, because there is little/no feedback.

For the rest, 12.10 feels fast, and did not crash here at all.

    Still after all these builds....

I have not managed to find out, how to make possible to switch to Contacts in Gmail in Standard view.

    http://i.imgur.com/0eBMv.png

This problem is occuring only with Windows (x64 build on Windows 7). Clean profile and disabling extensions have no effect on this.

However problem is absent on Mac and Linux...

I have the same issue. This should be considered a MAJOR problem by the Opera team.

Opera Team, please release a fix ASAP. Mine crashes every few seconds. Completely unusable.

I've just reported a text selection bug: selecting text doesn't work from left to right, only from right to left, and as soon as you right-click to use the menu, the selection is undone. This breaks a lot of functionality and extensions.

    try disabling extensions

The Firefox mask is using a dead UA string, Firefox 4 has been dead for a while now, can it be updated for 12.11?

The Mask as IE is broken as there is no such thing as IE 9 on XP, that will make the mask fail, if you mask as IE 9 then use Windows 7, mask as IE 8 should be used for XP should be fixed it is a regression from at least Opera version 12.00

Mmmmh. In a clean, standalone install, it works fine. But in my updated install, with every extension disabled (every single one, even the Speed Dial ones), I get the buggy behaviour.

EDIT: It looks like the culprit is the In-place Translator extension. That, or Opera broke something that extension was using, and then it's Opera's fault (maybe). Disabling the Translator for now.

At the risk of following an Opera-fficial line :smile::smile: I should say that several bugs I experienced prior to 12.10 final continued, even when I clean installed.

Only when I did a *really* careful search, and deleted *everything everywhere* that was an Opera file - the cache folder in Appdata\Local, the profile in Appdata\Roaming (saving session + a couple of important files for later reuse), all Program Files\ and (x86)\, and even the 7zipped installer in \Temp - only then did it actually seem to work properly.

I was skeptical and frustrated, so after cleaning I installed 12.10 final twice (in both desktop and USB mode), made the identical changes to both configs, backed up a copy of both profile folders, then restored my old urlfilter.ini and autosave.win to both installs, to see what would happen.

For info, my non-appearance config changes on a clean 12.10 x64 install were to disable any non-AV plugins, full progress bar, much larger caches (disk, app cache, docs, figures), no SPDY, plugins on demand, max 2 connections/svr (for testing), and "dialog" startup. I then exited and backed up the profiles x 2 before resuming.

I have to say it *did* make a difference so far, though it's early days. Some of the issues I had been seeing before, have not resurfaced since doing this in either the desktop or the USB install.

So it is worth being very careful in this area if you've ever not been, before bug reporting. It's also worth retrying this as a basic recipe to see if the problem is reproducible that way.

How can I merge back the Opera button menu with tab bar? It changed with 12.10 update and I have no idea what configuration panel did I miss while searching for this.
    --edit--
Ah, never mind; Opera button is merged again with my tab bar... all it took was a restart of a browser.

I have Opera on more than 250 PC's in corporate enviroment (version 12.02 from official FTP). Many users loved Opera and use it on their home laptops and computers. And now without MSI package i must say "Goodbye" to Opera and "Hello" to Firefox.
    Very sad...

Oh, you mean in the "autoupdate" folder like in <ftp://ftp.opera.com/pub/opera/win/1202/autoupdate/> and that it's missing now in <ftp://ftp.opera.com/pub/opera/win/1210/autoupdate/>? Didn't even know it was still there in older builds anywhere.

Using GMAIL is ESSENTIAL on my day to day activities for my work and personal life and now I am unable to access GMAIL from Opera.

It keeps giving me the same ERROR message.
"Your client issued an invalid long request."

This only happens with Opera. I tested with Safari, Mozilla, Chrome and Internet Explorer to see if it was a problem from Google, but it worked perfectly in the other browsers.

I tried deleting my TEMP files... history, cookies and whatnots in order to see if it solved the problem, but NOTHING.

    Please solve the issue soon!

SPDY doesn't work at all at work. I believe it's because of the proxy (the transparent one). The problem is it does not say it doesn't work, just the behaviour is really weird. Can there be some kind of built-in test for that?
  • NutzShellsThursday, November 8, 2012 7:55:55 AM

Yeah, +1 for stability problem. Immediately had my first Opera crash after upgrading to 12.10. I've been using 12.01 for one month without any crash FTR.

Anyway, I've found some regression already:

and... still related to the HW acceleration, the dev team is actively ignoring DSK-366089 as it would appear.

In order to make gmail work (at least forme on osx Mountain Lion) you have to disable SPDY completely.
Go to opera:config Network and disable use spdy2 AND spdy3.
    Then it should work...
...not everything works though. There is some strange behaviour....
...if i click un a link embedded in a mail in gmail it will open a new tab with the whole email again, instead of the link! :yikes:
If i, instead, right click on the link and usa one of the options (Open, Open in a new tab, Open in a new background tab) everything works as expected!

as other people already reported, copying text doesn't work well.
problem reproduced on Mac OSX Lion

I have to keep the left button on the mouse pushed while using cmd+c to copy the text otherwise the text is unselected and copy is not done.

We need a new "stable" version, not a snapshot
  • UnrealmirakulixThursday, November 8, 2012 9:12:13 AM

copying text is almost impossible, because of selection loss.

And it crashes randomly whenever I type something.
